Ex- Physician Accused of Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a former doctor has been charged with performing assaults against 38 victims who were under his care.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
List of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
