People have come together throughout the country to mark 24 months since the Hamas-conducted attack on 7 October 2023, as discussions advanced in Egypt over a conclusion to the war in the Gaza Strip.

The attack resulted in in excess of 1,200 people dead and 251 others captured away to Gaza as hostages. It was the single deadliest day for Jews since the World War II.

Israel reacted by launching a defensive operation in Gaza which has taken more than 67,000 people, according to the region's Hamas-run health ministry. Its figures are seen as trustworthy by the UN and other global organizations.

"The violent adversaries have caused great damage, but they have not broken us," Benjamin Netanyahu added on Tuesday.

He also vowed to "accomplish all the goals of the war: the release of all the abducted, the elimination of the Hamas administration and the assurance that Gaza will not present a danger to Israel".

Remembrance Ceremonies Across Israel

The national leadership rescheduled formal remembrance events until October 16th - after the conclusion of the religious holiday season - but events still were held around the country on Tuesday.

A remembrance service for the relatives of Israelis killed in the Hamas incident was conducted in the coastal city. Organized by the families themselves, it was broadcast throughout Israeli TV networks.

Hours earlier, a minute's silence was respected across the country.

Ceasefire Talks in Egypt

Meanwhile, the conflicting parties' delegations met in the North African coastal city of the Egyptian city for a second day of mediated discussions to review the provisions of the proposal.

A prominent delegate knowledgeable about the discussions said that an night meeting of indirect talks began at evening in Egypt.

The source explained the earlier meeting ended without tangible results, because of disagreements over the recommended Israeli pullout plans from Gaza and over assurances Hamas seeks to guarantee Israel does not resume fighting after the opening period of the arrangement.

He added that the talks are "difficult and have still not achieve any major advancement," but pointed out that mediators are striving to narrow the gaps between the conflicting groups.

Essential Points in Talks

  • A permanent truce
  • The exchange of the captives still detained by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners from Gaza
  • The withdrawal of troops from Gaza
  • Measures for assistance provision
  • After-conflict governance of the territory

Civilian Feeling

In Tel Aviv's memorial area previously, 29-year-old a woman - whose sibling lived through the attack on the gathering, where many attendees were murdered and dozens more were captured by Hamas militants - told: "No location appears as home now and until every captive return no one will have peace of mind."

"Once we see all home again, we can relax anew. Then we can begin to heal," she concluded.

Near Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence in the capital, people congregated to show their backing for the loved ones of the hostages. Israel states forty-eight remain in detention in Gaza, twenty of whom are believed to be surviving.

Activist one woman stated: "We need do every compromise necessary for the captives to come back home. But we sincerely need assurances that we will be protected."

Research now regularly indicate that approximately seventy percent of Israelis want the war to conclude in return for the release of the abducted.

Palestinian Situation

At the location of the music event, those paying respects assembled to honor the dead.

From the site, the boom of aerial bombardments and artillery could be heard just a short distance away in Gaza, where local people indicated the severe Israeli attacks carried on.

In Gaza City, air and artillery strikes were documented in the early hours of Tuesday in the west side neighborhood, sector and Nasr neighbourhoods and in the eastern district of Sheikh Radwan, as well Shati refugee camp to the northwestern area.

"As the evening falls, the fear appears with it," evacuated Gaza City resident Emaan al-Wahidi, whose teenage son was killed by an Israeli aerial attack last year, described.

"Me and my three children are afraid of the bombings. All the night we are resting together, embracing, particularly my smallest child who places his face on me all night."

"Constantly we check the news to see what happened. And I'm concerned that this ceasefire will not be achieved and that the conflict will resume to us."

Medical Situation

The medical facility in Gaza City announced it had accepted the remains of six people by the midday, including a trio killed in an Israeli attack in the south part al-Sabra neighbourhood.

A different healthcare center in the south region of the city indicated additional dead people had been delivered. A person was killed by Israeli soldiers while looking for assistance to the south region, medics said.

The territory's health ministry said 25 of the {territ
