Martínez Double Keeps Inter on Tail of Leaders
Inter striker Lautaro Martínez scored a late double to earn his side a 2-0 win at Pisa, ensuring the visitors firmly engaged in the Serie A championship battle despite a less than convincing display.

Under Cristian Chivu, Inter currently are placed in third position in the standings with 27 points total, level with second-placed Roma and only one point adrift of leaders Milan. In contrast, Pisa occupy the 18th spot with 10 points.

Inter traveled in Tuscany looking to get back on track after suffering a derby defeat by Milan last weekend, which was followed by a European defeat at Atlético Madrid. However, they were made to battle throughout by promoted Pisa. The home team generated numerous opportunities, but a clinical Inter scored the opener in the 69th minute mark when Argentine Martínez smacked a one-time shot into the roof of the net. The forward then finished from point-blank with seven minutes remaining.
Inter’s capacity to score even with pressure was decisive in securing three points.

In Spain, Real Sociedad staged a dramatic fightback from 2-0 down to equalize at home against Villarreal, only to lose to a late strike five minutes into added time. Villarreal’s scoring came from Ayoze Pérez shortly after the half-hour mark and Alberto Moleiro in the 57th minute, but Carlos Soler soon pulled one back and Ander Barrenetxea equalised three minutes from time. However, Moleiro delivered the last word late in stoppage time.
Later on La Liga match, Real Madrid travel to Girona needing a win to return to the top ahead of Barcelona, who recorded a 3-1 triumph over Alavés on Saturday.
