Philly Falter in Texas & Mahomes Rescues Kansas City – Top Moments from National Football League Week 12
The twelfth week delivered an incredible Cowboys comeback, or perhaps an epic Philadelphia Eagles implosion?
Postseason Mahomes showed up to rescue the Kansas City's season as the Chicago Bears keep to surprise as they continue their winning run.
And did Shedeur Sanders do enough on his debut professional start to secure the full-time role in Cleveland?
Let's take a look at the best of the week in the NFL.
Analysis – Cowboys Comeback or Philly Fail?
Dallas were trailing badly at 21-0 down versus the reigning championship champions, how exactly did they engineer their joint-best recovery in history?
The emotions of a first home fixture since Marshawn Kneeland tragic death may have been a factor, but technically it was a combination of Prescott’s resolve and a defensive unit that pounced on uncommon mistakes by the Eagles.
Prescott eclipsed Tony Romo marks for passing yards (now thirty-four thousand three hundred seventy-eight) and game-winning drives (twenty-five) with an all-action display – his plunging score personifying his energetic display.
Philly squandered a lead of 21 points or more for the first time since 1999, with only their second game with several turnovers this year – the previous being another disappointing division defeat at the New York.
In addition to 14 penalties for 96 yards, the offensive struggles that affected Jalen Hurts after what – for him – was an explosive start was significant. He'd only passed for 200-plus yards in 4 games prior to the weekend, he had over 150 in the opening two quarters alone in Texas.
Yet from the time the Eagles went 21-0 up their offence fell apart dramatically – with four consecutive kicks, a failed three-point attempt and then a fumble giving opportunity after chance to the Cowboys.
The Eagles defense is brilliant, it truly is, but an offense that's not surpassed twenty-one points in 5 of seven games (three losses) is now a major concern, as the pieces are all there but it's just not working.
Sirianni’s game is all about winning the big situations, the defence keeps them in it and what offence there is does barely sufficient – if it can't even do that and now the composure and ball protection is failing, there could be problems in the future.
Spotlight – Postseason Mahomes Shows Up Early to Rescue Chiefs
It wasn't quite as dramatic, but Kansas City's 11-point comeback in the final period versus a powerful Indianapolis squad was hugely impressive – and may have just saved their campaign.
How significant was it? Well, the NFL's advanced analytics now give the Kansas City a fifty-eight percent chance of making the playoffs, when a loss on Sunday would have dropped that figure to 28%.
It’s no surprise the playoff form of Patrick Mahomes turned up, throwing for two hundred thirty-five yards in the second half by itself and guiding 3 point-scoring drives in their final four series to seal it in overtime.
Some huge passes and daring runs are typical for Mahomes in the playoffs, but currently the Kansas City are in playoff mode – at 6-5 and only 10th in the conference standings.
That was more like the former Kansas City though, with a first close victory of the year after dropping five previously – they won 11 of them the previous season so, if that belief comes back, this Chiefs Kingdom might not be done so soon.
Talking Point – Can Bears Become Rulers of the Division?
You just can't overlook the Chicago Bears any longer. A win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, minus Rodgers, maintained them first of the NFC North and at eight and three – sharing the same record as the Philadelphia.
They appear dangerous on each side of the field, with a defence that leads the league in picks and overall turnovers and, in Caleb Williams, a young quarterback now used to winning tight games.
He may at times be inconsistent, surrendering a score after a fumble in his team’s end zone – but he additionally threw three scores and, with already five final period rallies this year, he understands how to get the job done.
The Green Bay Packers are in hot pursuit in the NFC North after overpowering the Minnesota and Detroit are in contention after beating the New York in extra time with a monster game from Jahmyr Gibbs.
Chicago are strangely the most reliable with 8 victories in 9, but as they travel to the championship champs on Thanksgiving we'll see just how strong they really are.
Preview – Exciting Thanksgiving in Store
This looks one of the best Thanksgiving line-ups for a long time, with every game loaded with postseason consequences.
The Lions welcome the Green Bay in the classic opener in Detroit, prior to a rare trip back to Texas for the Kansas City, who started out life as the Dallas Texans way back in the sixties before relocating to Missouri.
Sunday's rally kings are each holding on to playoff aspirations but have minimal margin for mistakes – so this will have a playoff feel.
And how about the Ravens? An unattractive victory over the Jets actually has them leading of the division after beginning 1-5 and appearing finished.

Will Shedeur Sanders Retain His Job?
Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski dismissed inquiries on whether Sanders had performed enough in his first NFL outing to maintain the first-team position when Gabriel comes back.
Yet the question will keep being raised as Sanders became the first Cleveland signal-caller to win his first NFL start after Zeier in nineteen ninety-nine – with seventeen other rookie quarterbacks failing to do so afterward.
It came just the Las Vegas, and with the assistance of an almost feral Browns defense recording 10 tackles, but Cleveland's offence needs a leader, a presence to inspire belief.
And confidence is something not lacking in Sanders, who informed a network {
