US actor Pat Finn, who appeared in beloved TV shows like "Friends", "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has passed away at the age of 60.
The skilled improv artist died at home in LA on Monday after undergoing cancer treatment from 2022 onward, according to news outlets.
"He considered no one a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his relatives stated in a announcement.
They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".
A Notable Career on Screen
His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the brother of the main character.
He also had a regular part on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.
He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.
Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous popular shows, like:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.
His film credits include "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Outside of his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was a member of a six-member improv team called "Beer Shark Mice".
"He taught, supported, and inspired countless students during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.
Offering condolences, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he posted online.
Finn is leaves behind his partner Donna, three children, and his family.
