Shock as Popular South African DJ Gunned Down in Johannesburg.
A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country struggling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the forty-year-old entertainer was accosted by a trio of assailants, one of whom shot at him before running away.
The motive of the attack is unknown and no one has been arrested have been made, police said.
How It Happened
Police said that Stock was ambushed as he was exiting a location close to the city center landmark.
He had been present for hours at the building managing the setup of safety equipment, which had been controversially occupied by unidentified individuals, according to reports.
"Authorities believe the victim was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they began shooting at him before fleeing the scene on foot," authorities stated.
Security camera video reportedly captured a man with dreadlocked hair and dressed in what looked like a security uniform firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was wounded but fell down on the opposite side of the road.
Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and it was not a robbery during the assault.
Crucial forensic evidence, like cartridges, were discovered at the crime scene.

Officials are asking eyewitnesses who may have have information to contact them.
"Our information indicates they traveled on foot after the shooting, and police have been attempting to locate them to find their whereabouts," stated a police chief.

His family member, a close relative, said the family was struggling to process his death.
"I am devastated. I don't have words," she stated.
"It is clear he was a voice for many people. He addressed issues courageously about topics not many people were willing to tackle. This is a tremendous loss."
