The network's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Gets a Major Extension for Seasons 2 and 3.

Last October, Adult Swim welcomed back its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, shortly thereafter, the network unveiled a brand-new animated series with a markedly softer feel. Haha, You Clowns was heartwarming and calm, in the spirit of a animated take of a laid-back talk show. In an era often defined by dark humor, this show's wholesomeness resonated deeply and helped it become a breakout hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

On December 18th, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two additional seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to develop the story of the Campbell family. The series follows three polite teenage brothers whose defining trait is their deep love for their single father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four main characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and helped it grow," remarked Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for a little longer."

A President's Endorsement

In the same announcement praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He shouted out the fans who embraced the show and championed its peculiarly charming appeal.

"All of you supported this new show, praised it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a comforting antidote" to more cynical adult animated fare. There’s something surprisingly comfy about following this endearing family navigate their everyday routines.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa stated his desire to move the comedy genre beyond its prevailing sarcastic tone. He attributed this trend to various cultural shifts.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we are trapped in,” said Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we must laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

Future Seasons

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa may well help usher in that very evolution. Or at the very least, the renewal ensures audiences a little more time to experience the heartfelt moments of the endearing Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. All episodes is ready to watch on HBO Max.
