He remarked, "We can already see that Russia is scrambling to restart dialogue immediately after it hears about cruise missiles." This statement referred to recent comments about supplying advanced weapons to Ukraine.

Political Developments and Global Responses

An ex- American diplomat, a foreign policy expert, commented, "Putin is trying to disrupt the progress toward increased sanctions on Russia." He added, "We'll see on Friday, but the chances of moving toward a ceasefire by pressuring Moscow to engage sincerely seem to have decreased."

This situation came after Trump had in recent days been strengthening his rhetoric toward Moscow until Thursday's call with Putin, which the Russian government described as "highly frank and constructive."

EU Fuel Restrictions and Market Effects

The European Union have established a mandate for energy importers into the European Union to prove their fuels are not made from Russian oil, according to a official guideline released on recently. This step is part of the EU's forthcoming prohibition on purchases of refined products made from Russian petroleum, which forms part of its 18th restrictive measures against Moscow over its war in the region.

Market experts observed that investment patterns appeared to be considering the potential end of Indian imports of Russian oil. Several oil processors in India are preparing to reduce Russian oil imports, with projections of a phased reduction, as reported by sources knowledgeable about the situation.

"This is a positive development for the oil market as it would eliminate a big buyer of Russian oil," said a market analyst, adding that crude values were stable on the trading day.

Military Situation and Infrastructure Attacks

A massive Moscow's unmanned aircraft and missile assault targeted gas facilities in Ukraine's eastern regions on the same day, resulting in outages in eight regions. Ukrainian officials stated that Russian forces launched hundreds of drones and dozens of projectiles, along with glide bombs.

"This autumn, the Russians use daily opportunities to strike at our energy infrastructure," declared Volodymyr Zelenskyy, noting that strikes impacted the regions of northern Ukraine, eastern Ukraine, central Ukraine, northeastern Ukraine and Vinnytsia.

International Diplomatic Responses

Kyiv's representative to the United States, Olga Stefanishyna, asserted that Russia demonstrated its real attitude to negotiations through the "terror" of such strikes. "The Russian government once again chose weapons over talks, turning this assault into a direct setback to ongoing peace efforts," Stefanishyna commented.

At the same time, the European Union's foreign policy chief, the bloc's representative, announced that the European Union had no choice but to build up anti-drone defences against Russian threats. She revealed a "plan" to get ready for potential conflict by 2030, featuring a novel anti-drone system to be completely functional by the 2027 deadline.

The proposed system, dubbed the "European drone defence initiative," is projected to start operations in its first phase by the end of 2026 and be completely operational by the end of 2027. EU authorities hopes to secure the backing of member state representatives at a summit next week.
